What is a Skin Tag?

A common blemish, a skin tag is a small, soft piece of tissue that hangs off the skin by a connective stalk. These bumps or skin flaps most commonly appear in the armpits, on the neck and around the eyes; however some people develop such lesions on their testicles, nipples or in the anal region. Often more cosmetically bothersome or annoying than harmful, these outer skin growths can take many sizes, shapes and colors.

Cauterizing. The best way to avoid scarring after the skin tag is removed is by cauterizing or burning it off. A small device delivers heat directly to the skin tag, destroying the tissue. The advantage to this procedure is the process also prevents the area from bleeding once the tag is removed.

After care: Keep the area dry for at least two days. After this time, you can wash the area gently with soap and water. Pat dry, don’t rub, to avoid irritation.

 
Moles are common skin growths. You probably have more than one on your face and body. Most people have 10 to 40 moles somewhere on their skin, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
 
Most moles are harmless and nothing to worry about. Unless a mole is cancerous, you don’t need to have it removed unless it bothers you. But if you don’t like the way it affects your appearance, or if it’s getting irritated from rubbing against your clothes, removing the mole is still an option.
 
The best way to know if a mole is cancerous is to see a dermatologist for an annual skin cancer screening. If you have a history of skin cancer, your dermatologist may recommend screening more often.
 
Meanwhile, you should schedule a checkup with your dermatologist if you notice any moles that:
  • are asymmetrical
  • have irregular borders
  • are not uniform in color
  • have a diameter that’s larger than a pencil eraser
  • are evolving or changing in size, shape, or color

    These are known as the ABCDEs of mole checks. These types of moles should be evaluated by a dermatologist, who can then decide if they should be tested for skin cancer.

    After care: Keep the area dry for at least two days. After this time, you can wash the area gently with soap and water. Pat dry, don’t rub, to avoid irritation.
 
  • Please bring any comfortable shorts with you that you can change into.
  • Over the counter compression stockings are required to be worn after the treatment for one day.
 
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is “the gold standard” for eliminating superficial telangectasias (spider veins) by injecting a solution called sclerosing agent into the vein. The solution irritates and dries out the cells lining the blood vessel so that it stops carrying blood. The body slowly replaces the blood vessel with an invisible scar. The circulation is not harmed because blood is re-routed through healthy veins.
 
Does Sclerotherapy work for everyone?
About 80% of people who have sclerotherapy performed will see improvement in their spider veins, although complete resolution is rare . Spider veins are hereditary as well as chronic and progressive. Pregnancy , prolonged standing and/or sitting may make them worse, or increase the probability of getting them. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that sclerotherapy will be effective in every case. Approximately 10% of patients who undergo sclerotherapy have poor to fair results. “Poor results” means that the veins have not totally disappeared after six treatments. In very rare instances, the patient’s condition may become worse after sclerotherapy treatment.
 
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed to clear or improve the condition differs from patient to patient, depending on the extent of varicose and spider veins present. We recommended two to six or more treatments. The average is four. Sclerotherapy does not prevent new veins from forming. The same area should not be injected for 2 to 4 weeks to allow for complete healing.
 
What are the most common side effects?
  • Itching – You may experience mild itching along the vein route. The itching can last 1 to 2 days.
  • Transient Hyperpigmentation – Approximately 30% of patients who undergo sclerotherapy notice discoloration or light brown streaks after treatment. This is caused by the sudden release of blood into the surrounding skin. In rare instances, this darkening of the vein may persist for 4 to 12 months.
  • Allergic Reaction – Very rarely, a patient may have an allergic reaction to the sclerosing agent or the tape.
  • Bruising – Bruising may occur if the veins are weak and small amounts of blood escape into the skin. Certain medications (e.g. aspirin, ibuprofen) may increase the incidence of bruising.
  • Pain – A few patients may experience moderate to severe pain and some bruising, usually at the site of the injection. The veins may be tender to the touch after treatment, and an uncomfortable sensation may run along the vein route. The pain is usually temporary, in most cases, lasting 1 to 7 days.
  • Other side effects include a burning sensation during injection of some solutions, neovascularization (the development, usually temporary, of new tiny blood vessels), temporary superficial blebs or wheals (similar to a hive), and very rarely, a wound infection, poor healing, scarring and an intra-arterial injection.
  • Phlebitis is a very rare complication, seen in approximately 1 of every 1,000 patients treated for varicose veins greater than 3 to 4 mm in diameter (larger vessels). The danger of phlebitis include the possibility of pulmonary embolus (a blood clot to the lungs) and post-phlebitis syndrome, in which the blood clot is not carried out of the legs, resulting in permanent swelling of the legs.

Like most beauty treatments, it’s important to prepare properly to get the most out of your facial. What is a Galvanic Facial?

Gua Sha is an ancient facial technique that makes use of a special massage tool that helps drain fluid from the face and promote blood flow.


Based on ancient Chinese healing principles, the Gua Sha massage tool is used to “scrape” the skin with both long and short strokes in a downward motion. In order to help promote the movement of the tool, oil is applied on the skin.

What Is A High Frequency Facial?

What is the downtime?

This formulation provides all of the benefits of a high percentage TCA peel, but without the associated side effects (discomfort and peeling), and downtime thanks to the addition of the Hydrogen compound. The peel is incredibly effective. The combination of TCA and hydrogen peroxide stimulates the dermis non-invasive, while minimizing the aggressive exfoliation of the dermis. Vitamin B12 deficiency is widespread. The reasons vary, but often this has something to do with the way we live and what we eat. Our bodies are constantly exposed to pollutants and pesticides, as well as the genetic modifications added to the animal foods we consume. Since the compound is only present in animal-based foods, the task of having a high enough supply of vitamin B12 is especially difficult for vegans and vegetarians.
 
Symptoms of vitamin-B12 deficiency
Also known as cobalamin, vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin we need for many bodily functions. It is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a vital part in our body’s DNA synthesis, red blood cell production, energy production, and neurological function. In the absence of sufficient absorption of vitamin B12, our body will start manifesting several deficiency symptoms, such as:

    Where can we find vitamin B12?

    During digestion, vitamin B12 is removed from protein and sent into the bloodstream. For our body to properly absorb it, the stomach needs to have sufficient acid to perform the removal, a process that is not always completed successfully due to the lack of something called the intrinsic factor. People who have problems absorbing vitamin B12 may eventually suffer from pernicious anemia.

    The recommended daily intake of vitamin B12 is 2.4 micrograms per day, but not many of us manage to rise to the challenge. Besides people who have an absorption problem, some individuals prefer a plant-based diet and thus can’t access B12 from food. Elderly people may also have vitamin B12 absorption problems, as will people with celiac disease or Crohn’s disease.
